Matatabi, aka. silver vine or cat powder, is a climbing plant belonging to the same family as that of kiwis. It comes from Japan and China, and grows especially in mountainous areas, at elevations between 500 and 1900m. In season, the plant bears white and yellow flowers. Afterwards, it bears edible kiwi-like fruits with orange flesh. Its leaves are used in Chinese traditional medicine, and also to make tea.
The effects of Matatabi on cats has been scientifically observed, but also by people who have found their plants nibbled on.
Use and effects:
- Simply give a stick to your cat. Let it play with it and you should immediately see the effects.
- If you notice that the toy no longer has the same effect as in the beginning, simply rasp the stick.
- You’ll find your cat to be in an euphoric mood, and more inclined to play. This behaviour will be noticeable by rolling, licking and drooling.
